Keith James, member emeritus of the Board of Directors, co-founded Kids in Need with his close friend Edmund Lothian because of their common desire to assist children in their homeland of Jamaica.
Fondly known to family and friends as Bunny or Kookaberry, he could laugh about almost anything, but knew the importance of taking education seriously. With a strong desire to help children of St. James, Jamaica have the opportunity for a brighter future, he along with a small group of friends began raising money to support children’s educational needs and later schools serving these children.
Keith passed away in June of 2012 in Brooklyn, NY, where he made his home for 30 years. However, along with his Kids in Need family, his wife, Pauline, sisters, Yvonne and Claudia, and cousin Arthurine, are working to keep his dream alive by continuing the work he and his friends began through Kids in Need. Keith was originally from Montego Bay, St. James, Jamaica, where he attended Montego Bay Boy’s School (currently Corinaldi Avenue Primary School), Montego Bay Secondary (currently Saint James High School), and Cornwall College High School.
